About Us
River Roofing was established in 1971 by Jack Mclntosh in Leaburg, Oregon. Before moving to Oregon, Jack owned Mclntosh Roofing in Los Angeles, a large firm with an excellent reputation for quality and dependability. He came to Oregon and started River Roofing at the age of 55, bringing his years of experience and expertise to the firm. In 1971, Steve Davey became Jack's partner and began working side by side to learn all he could from the master craftsman. Every roof was to be perfect, nothing else was acceptable. River Roofing established a reputation for setting a firm price, finishing the job on schedule and standing behind quality workmanship.
Even with the depressed economy and construction slump during the 1980's, River Roofing continued to expand while maintaining the well deserved reputation for quality work. In the 1990's the company's employee count reached nearly 100, becoming one of the areas larger employers. In 1994, we added a satellite branch in Bend, Oregon, quickly becoming one of the largest roofing companies in the area. In 1999, River Roofing purchased Roe Roofing, a company specializing in flat built-up (hot tar) roofing since 1947. Michael Roe, a third generation roofing contractor, saw an opportunity to retire and pass his company and reputation to the competent hands of Steve Davey at River Roofing. This acquisition gave River Roofing the equipment, experienced crews and clientele to expand into commercial flat roofs.
Today, River Roofing is proud to employ over 45 workers in Lane County. The business continues to grow the River Roofing way: with special attention to quality and customer satisfaction in every aspect of the job. We look forward to serving you.
Meet Our Team
Steve Davey
President
In 1976, Jack retired and Steve Davey, at the age of 26, purchased the company. Growth was gradual and controlled, taking great care to never lose sight of the things that made River Roofing different: quality, professionalism, and integrity. Steve's wife, Joy, handled the bookkeeping and pursued her degree in accounting and computers.
John Davey
Vice President
In 1977, when the company consisted of 3-4 employees, John Davey moved from Los Angeles to Oregon and started working with his brother Steve. He is gradually taking over the business from Steve as he retires. When not involved in the world of roofing, you'll find him in the garage, wrench in hand.
Susan Davey
Accounting
Susan Davey joined River Roofing in May of 2010. She spent many years in the Cosmetology industry, where she owned her own business, and holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin. She works part-time doing various accounting duties. In Susan’s free time, she enjoys working in her flower and veggie gardens.
Jesse Allen
Head of Single-Ply & Commercial Division
Jesse Allen has been with River Roofing since 1995. He has an impressive combination of field experience and technical skill in both commercial and residential projects of all sizes. Jesse manages our single ply roofing division, and works with our clients, contractors and their architects to ensure quality project outcome. He and his crew have received numerous awards for installation proficiency in all types of single ply products. Jesse and his wife Jamie have two children.
Christina Zimmerman
Office Manager
Christina Zimmerman joined River Roofing in 2011 and plays an essential role in our office. Her skillset is vast and includes HR, in-house payroll and accounts payable/receivable. On top of many other duties, she assists with commercial projects and is in charge of contract management and accounting. When Christina has free time, she enjoys spending it with her dog Sophie.
David Rather
Repair Division Manager
David joined River Roofing in September of 2015 and is our repair division manager. He has a wealth of experience with defect work and applies that experience to problem solving a variety of roofing issues for our customers. His thoroughness and attention to detail enables our crews to resolve complex issues. In his spare time, you can find David fishing rain or shine.
Dave Putzier
Estimator
Dave Putzier has been with River Roofing since 1994. During his time with the company, he has been a composition roofing installer, and the head of quality control. Dave joined our estimating staff in the residential division in 2023. In his time outside of work, Dave is a semi-professional photographer that focuses on events and portraits
Marshall McManus
Estimator
Marshall McManus recently joined River Roofing's estimating staff in January of 2025. He started working on roofs as a teenager alongside his father, and began nailing down shingles at just 16 years old. Marshall has over 40 years of experience in the roofing industry. When he is not working, he likes to travel and spend time with his wife, 5 grown children and 12 grandchildren.
John Bullard
Field Manager
John joined the River Roofing team in May of 2017. With his prior experience in construction, he manages our job sites to ensure our crews have all the tools and materials needed to complete each project. A man of many hats, John also ensures our crews are following safety protocols established by River Roofing as well as the rules and regulations of OSHA.
Jessica S.
Scheduling Coordinator
Jessica joined River Roofing in May of 2023 and oversees the scheduling department for tear-offs and installations. She keeps our crews on track, and our clients’ needs met. She grew up in northern Oregon and moved to the Eugene area in early 2022. In her free time, Jessica enjoys crafting and/or relaxing with her cats, Gustav and Gizmo.
Jessica "Olsen"
Administrative Assistant
"Olsen" joined River Roofing in November of 2024 and we are so excited to have her! She entered the roofing industry in 2021, delivering and loading roofing materials onto clients' houses, and now assists us with various office tasks. In the summer, Olsen is involved with forest cleanup efforts, clearing trash from public lands.
