About River Roofing

Jack Mclntosh established River Roofing in 1971 in Leaburg, Oregon. Before moving to Oregon, Jack owned Mclntosh Roofing in Los Angeles, a large firm with an excellent reputation for quality and dependability. He came to Oregon and started River Roofing at the age of 55, bringing his years of experience and expertise to the firm. Steve Davey became Jack’s partner in 1971 working side by side to learn all he could from the master craftsman. Every roof was to be perfect, nothing else was acceptable. River Roofing established a reputation for setting a firm price, finishing the job on schedule and standing behind the quality workmanship.

The Mid 1970's
Jack retired in 1976 and Steve Davey, at the age of 26, purchased the company. Steve’s wife, Joy, handled the bookkeeping and pursued her degree in accounting and computers. Steve’s brother, John, moved to Oregon from Los Angeles and joined the business. Growth was gradual and controlled, taking great care to never lose sight of the things that made River Roofing different: quality, professionalism, and integrity.

The 1980'sEven with the depressed economy and construction slump, River Roofing continued to expand while maintaining the well deserved reputation for quality work
In 1985, Mike Fero joined the company. With 18 years of experience as a roofing installer and carpenter, he is now in charge of leak repairs, company safety, quality control, and carpentry, demonstrating his high attention to details. Roger Siewert joined River Roofing in 1980 and was instrumental in the growth, quality and reputation of the company. Roger worked his way to the top and is now general manager, overseeing employees and handling sales.
Les Simpkins joined our team in 1989. Also starting as a roofing installer, he now focuses his attention and skills on sales, estimating, and general supervision. Les is currently River Roofing's Assistant General Manager. The 1990'sThe company's employee count reached nearly 100, becoming one of the areas larger employers. In 1994, we added a satellite branch in Bend Oregon, quickly becoming one of the largest roofing companies in the area.
Jean Haugen came to River Roofing in 1992. She is in charge of running our office smoothly and keeping all of us happy campers. She does most of the accounting and also feeds the fish. Her husband, Jerry, is retired from teaching and keeps the house clean so she can give us her full attention. She counts her blessings to have two grandsons living next door. She says she works to keep them in toys, but we all know its because she shops QVC. She loves her job here and it shows.
Willy Formatin joined River Roofing in 1994. He is in charge of all aspects of cement tile roofing. Willy trained as an apprentice and then as a journeyman tile installer in Belgium. He also is fluent in French. In 1999, River Roofing purchased Roe Roofing, a company specializing in flat built-up (hot tar) roofing since 1947. Michael Roe, a third generation roofing contractor, saw an opportunity to retire and still pass his company and reputation to the competent hands of Steve Davey at River Roofing. This acquisition gave River Roofing the equipment, experienced crews, and clientele to expand into commercial flat roofs.
Terri Baker came to us as a temp while Joy was off seeing the world and has stayed ever since. She handles all of the payroll for our Springfield and Bend offices. Her husband is a fisherman in Alaska, so she also keeps us supplied with sea food. Terri has three wonderful children and was just blessed with her first grandson. Of course, he is the apple of her eye. She loves working for River Roofing and could not imagine being any place else.

Steve Hollis joined the River Roofing staff in 2004 to head up our new scaffolding division. Steve has been in the construction trades since 1972. He has worked for national and local scaffolding companies and brings knowledge and experience from the ground up. Steve is Scaffolding Manager and Estimator for all industrial and residential work. Steve is an artist and does scrimshaw work. His son is a Marine serving in Iraq and his daughter is in college.

She is now working for us all the time and we love having her here!Traci is married, she and her husband Todd have three children. Their children are all involved in sports so they are on the road a lot. Traci is in charge of our accounts receivable. She is a valuable asset to our River Roofing family.

Jesse and his crew have received numerous awards for installation proficiency in all types of single ply products.
